Hand dyed yarns occasionally vary in hue due to the dyeing process. This is generally due to things beyond a dyer's control--particularly the changing water mineral content. We do not use dyelot numbers. Be sure to order enough for your project.
We do not mix dyelots, either; and will sell only items from a single dyelot to any one order. However, skeins of the same dyelot may show a slight variation. To this end, we offer the following tips:
1) Knit with two balls of yarn, changing yarn every two rows for entire project to avoid color pooling.
2) For color changes between skeins, knit with two skeins (as above) alternating for at least 1".
